Expand/Collapse All

What are the optimal storage conditions for cryopreserved hepatocytes?

A vapor phase LN2 dewar is recommended. Storage at <-150 degrees Celsius is also acceptable.

What is the shelf life of cryopreserved hepatocytes?

When properly stored (refer to handling document), cryopreserved hepatocytes remain viable for several years.

Can cryopreserved hepatocytes be thawed and then refrozen?

No. Cryopreserved hepatocytes are to be used immediately after thawing. Repeated freezing and thawing will cause irreparable damage to the cells. See Thawing and Handling Instructions for more information.

Are cryopreserved hepatocytes useful for applications that require plated cells?

Piedmont Research Center provides both plateable and non-plateable cryopreserved hepatocytes that can be used for plated or suspension applications.

Is characterization data available?

Yes. Each lot of hepatocytes has been characterized for metabolic activity. These results accompany each shipment and can also be found online through your account.

Is special media required for plating these cells?

Yes. Media is available for purchase if needed and can be included with your shipment.
